On 18 October the European Commission proposed a new Regulation proposal for enhancing solidarity through better coordination of gas, exchanges of gas across borders and reliable price benchmarks.
DeHavilland's Senior Policy Consultant Christina Kouremenou summarised the Regulation proposal in a Policy Note. This Policy Note includes a breakdown of the proposals objectives, including:
• introduction of EU wide joint gas purchasing
• Plans to set up price limiting mechanisms
• introduction of new measures on transparent infrastructure use
• Increasing solidarity between member states
• Managing the energy demand
