What's on the agenda this month

In the second half of February, the ECON Committee is hoping to finalise its work on a number of proposals including those on Sovereign-Bond-Backed-Securities and the Sustainable Finance Taxonomy. The Plenary Session of 11 February is set to debate and vote on the proposal on cross-border payments.
Meanwhile, the ECOFIN Council is meeting on 12 February to discuss the financial supervision architecture and the change to qualified majority voting in EU tax policy. The Council may also issue a recommendation on the nomination of a new member of the executive board of the European Central Bank. Work on the EU annual budget also continues.

The European Commission is preparing to publish the European Economic Forecast for Winter 2019 on 7 February. Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis will publish the European Semester Winter Package on 27 February.
