What's on the agenda this month
by Alise Karcevska, EU Policy Analyst
June will be a busy month for the Commission Proposal on Health Technology Assessment. The proposed Regulation covers new medicines and certain new medical devices, providing the basis for permanent and sustainable cooperation at the EU level for joint clinical assessments in these areas. On 4 June the IMCO Committee will consider the draft Opinion and on 19 June the MEPs will consider the amendments. Meanwhile, on 7 June the ENVI Committee will consider the draft Report on the Proposal and is expected to vote on the draft Report in September.
Last month the Commission announced a Proposal for a Regulation concerning the supplementary protection certificate for medicinal products. It has already been ascertained that JURI Committee will be responsible, however, the Rapporteur is expected to be announced in June.
Mid-June the European Commission is organising a conference on the outcome and follow-up of the second REACH review. Finally, the EPSCO Council will take place on 21 and 22 June.
