Florian Braeu, DeHavilland EU's Policy Analyst for Financial Services, gives you a heads-up on what to watch out for in May.
What's on the agenda this month
by Florian Braeu, EU Policy Analyst
In May, the Commission will continue to make further progress in the field of sustainable finance which has been identified as a key priority for 2018. Against this background, Vice-President Dombrovskis is expected to present the Capital Markets Union package which includes new sustainable finance measures but also focusses on fiduciary duties and taxonomy.
In parliament, the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) will vote on both parts of the European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) - the procedures and authorities involved for the authorisation of CCPs and the risk-mitigation techniques for OTC derivatives contracts not cleared by a central counterparty.
