What's on the agenda this month
by Matteo Panizzardi, EU Policy Analyst
As the European Parliament reconvenes from summer recess, legislators will resume their efforts to complete the Clean Energy for all Europeans Package. More specifically, the second round of trilogue negotiations on the proposals on common rules for the internal Market in electricity and Regulation on the internal market for electricity is expected to take place during the second week of September.
In the Council of the EU, the Working Party on Energy will examine European Parliament amendments to the Regulation on risk-preparedness in the electricity sector and the ACER Regulation.
On environmental policy, Plenary is expected to vote on the Report on the European strategy for plastics in a circular economy on 12 September while the ECON, ITRE and AGRI Committees are set to adopt their Draft Opinions on the Directive on single use plastics.
Beyond the legislative chambers, events that will be occurring in September are the High-Level Energy Conference organised by the Council Presidency, the 2018 edition of the INSPIRE conference in Antwerp, Belgium and the 10th Citizens' Energy Forum organised by the European Commission.
